Mission: We aim to grow the local ultimate scene in population and skill for Schenectady County with a dedicated group of teammates and friends.

Purpose

  • To formalize, unify, and grow Schenectady County’s local youth and adult ultimate frisbee scene
  • To provide an environment where any Schenectady County resident has the opportunity to join a welcoming, friendly community and improve their game to a high level of play
  • To showcase Schenectady County ultimate and improve ourselves by seeking out competition against other teams

Expected Team Member Values (you!):

  • A good person on and off the field to teammates, competitors, others, and yourself
  • Engagement in growth opportunities with the community (e.g., coaching, volunteering, etc.), team (e.g., training sessions, competition, etc.), and on your own (e.g., throwing, watching film, working out, etc.)
  • A go-getter attitude – identify ways to improve the organization and take action to do so

Who can join: Anyone who wants to contribute to this mission. This can be as a player, support staff, or community contributor in Schenectady County. SCOUT members have explicit roles.

Immediate Vision:

  • Expand the core group for SCOUT aligned with this mission
  • Develop a competitive league with other Capital Region counties
  • Start ultimate in the Schenectady and Scotia school districts

Future Goals:

Make Schenectady County a hub for high level ultimate development

Develop a pipeline of youth ultimate players

Recruit new players, coach(es), and other support staff

Find a “home” field

Advertise the team and games

Develop a local fan base in Schenectady County of kids and adults

Local sponsorships to support jerseys, cleats, equipment, food/drink, etc.

Establish a budget to cover player costs – eventually pay players and staff

Develop SCOUT as a minor league/semi-professional ultimate frisbee organization with the other Capital Region counties
